Most well known for the iconic Launch Box, Magic Flight produced the Muad-Dib in 2014 to give concentrate users a taste of the steampunk-wood-box-vaporizer movement. While the Muad Dib might not have been as successful as the Launch Box, it performs well if you're looking for substantial concentrate clouds. 

Honestly if the Muad-Dib had come out when nectar collectors and "craft concentrate devices" were having their day in the sun I think it would have been much more popular. The device was designed to use small amounts of concentrate while maximizing flavor, and the fast heat-up time provided by the batteries really does a great job and manufacturing huge clouds. 

Let's dive into what makes the Muad-Dib a great portable concentrate vaporizer! 

The Muad-Dib's Design

Right out of the box the Muad-Dib makes a statement. The steampunk inspired design does a great job of crushing the "cool factor" for consumers, but isn't as hard to operate as it might look upon first glance. The Muad-Dib requires no torch and does not feature the typical form factor associated with most concentrate-based vapes. Instead, the device is powered by the same glyph batteries used by the standard Launch Box. The batteries quickly heat up the re-imagined trench to over 900ºF and provide over 50 uses on a single charge

That 900ºF figure is from their early specs, so there is a chance it might not be that high. From personal experience all that you really need to know about the temperature is that it gets hot enough to deliver a much larger cloud than you thought would come from your concentrate. 

Experiencing The Muad-Dib 

While the design of the Muad-Dib is sophisticated, using the device is very straightforward and for Launch-Box veterans, a walk in the park. 

To begin vaporization with the Muad-Dib, slide back the futuristic-lens lid and load a small amount of solid concentrate onto the trench. Close the lid and press the charged battery into the box to activate the stainless steel heating rod.

It is recommended that you enjoy your Muad-Dib vapor from the whip attachment if possible as it cools your vapor down even more and creates a smoother draw. 

Was The Muad-Dib Ahead Of It's Time? 

Design aesthetics aside, the Muad-Dib's functionality as a flavor+clouds portable wax vaporizer is on par with some of the newest vape devices out years later. The small amount of material you'll be using does get vaped quickly (no real temp control *could* be seen as an issue for some) but the effects and amount of vapor leave you not needing too much more per draw. 

While the battery system is definitely not the most ideal, it does have a bit of charm if you're looking for an eye-catching piece that might start up a conversation. When you use this vape you do sometimes feel like you're all of a sudden wearing a big top hat and have a waxed mustache, but for those that want something off the beaten path the Muad-Dib is a great option.
