MJ Arsenal Atlas Mini Rig
The world in your hand.
Features:
- Mini Design
- Double Ball Chamber
- Honeycomb Percolator
- 100% Pure Quartz Nail
- Spill-Proof
- Ground Glass Connection
The Atlas is another tiny but mighty mini dab rig by MJ Arsenal. This little big guy gets its name from its double ball design, engineered to moisturize and cool hits while preventing water from entering the air path (and your mouth).
The chamber is a ball within a ball. Here's how it works…
Smoke travels from the nail through the inner ball then up through the honeycomb percolator into an outer ball that acts as a water chamber. The double ball design prevents splashing to keep water filtration clean and efficient.
Sure enough, the hits are quite comfortable and there's no spit back.
Even though the Atlas rig is small enough to fit in your pocket, the hits pack a punch. It's not that they're huge. They're just insanely direct, shooting straight to the lungs.
Here's where that power comes from...
The compressed airpath gives material no time to lose potency and flavor, so each hit from this mini dab rig is legitimately powerful.
Despite its small size, this is one of the best concentrate rigs I've tried. I can safely recommend it as an addition to your arsenal.
Stache RiO
Cordless and Portable Rig
Features:
- Carrying Case with EVA Foam
- Cold Start - Torch Heating
- No Coils To Replace
- 12-20 Second Heat Up Time
- Cordless and Portable
With the Stache RiO burnt coils and dead batteries is a thing of the past. This cold start vaporizer is a portable rig that doesn’t require coils or batteries, allowing you to continue your sessions without any issues. The RiO MakeOver Rig has an easy-to-use and low-maintenance design, making it a breeze to use and a great addition to your collection. And the vapor production is top-notch.
The RiO or “Rig-in-One” features a color base that protects your rig and houses a refillable, adjustable butane torch. The torch sits perfectly aligned to heat the 14mm male Core Reactor quartz banger nail that’s above the torch’s nozzle. Heat up takes about 12-20 seconds, which is fast and the vapor quality doesn’t fall short either.
Getting started is also really simple. First, start by placing your liquid materials into the bottom of the quartz banger. Then twist the torch knob and click the igniter to light the torch. Adjust the flame from low and increase the flame size to heat your materials. When the concentrate starts to melt or bubble, you’re ready to draw. If you prefer a cooler temperature, turn the torch off sooner, and if you want a warmer draw, just leave the torch on until you start your draw.
Also, twist your carb cap a few times to ensure your materials touch more surface area for more vapor production and better flavor. Covering the hole with your finger will also increase vaporization.
Cleaning the RiO is easy thanks to the simple design. We recommend you carry q-tips and alcohol wipes in the carrying case to clean out the banger after each session. While it isn’t necessary to do this, it will help keep the MakeOver Rig performing like the day you got it.
Overall the Stache MakeOver Rig makes sessions a hell of a lot more convenient, versatile and satisfying.
MJ Arsenal Ursa Mini Rig
Reach for the stars.
Features:
- Miniature Size
- Classic Rig Design
- Discus Perc
- Pure Borosilicate
- 100% Quartz Banger
- Flared Mouthpiece
Ursa Mini is the most traditional of the MJ Arsenal rigs. It's a mini version of the classic dab rig design with a few subtle differences. The hits are smaller than those of a big rig, but super concentrated.
I noticed the rips were slightly smoother than the rest of the MJA lineup. That's because the Ursa Mini has a relatively larger water chamber with a discus percolator that creates very fine bubbles. That makes the hits nice and smooth.
MJA made a few updates to the classic design that they're paying homage to here...
First, the air path between the banger and the perc is built outside the chamber rather than inside. It winds around the rig, which gives it a little more length. Smoke has more time to cool off.
Second, the mouthpiece is nice and flared. I like to think that helps create a seal between the mouthpiece and your lips for stronger suction. The mouthpiece also has a blown out air path at its base, creating a mini tornado that allows the hit to cool off.
This little rig is solid and reliable. The rips catch you off guard, proving that big things can come in small packages.
Higher Standards Heavy Duty Riggler
A travel-friendly dab rig *and* dry herb bubbler
Features:
- Made In USA
- Dual Use Design
- Fixed Diffused Downstem
- 7mm Thick Glass
- 100% Quartz Banger
Higher Standards constructed the Riggler to act as an elite water pipe for both concentrates and dry herbs. The diffused down steam smooths and cools both smoke and vapor before reaching your lungs for easy draws. Equipped with a quartz banger for concentrate use and a glass bowl for dry herb consumption, the Riggler produces elite flavor no matter the material used.
The body of the Heavy Duty Riggler is 7 millimetres thick, and its medical-grade borosilicate glass provides supreme durability. A diffused downstem creates fine bubbles and helps promote efficient airflow for dense draws. Higher Standards gave the Riggler an easy-to-clean design so touch ups and spot cleans are hassle-free.
Royal Mini-Rig
The little concentrate rig that could.
Features:
- Pure Quartz Banger
- Flared Mouthpiece
- Ground Glass Connection
- High-Grade Borosilicate Glass
- Fab-Egg Design
The Royale Mini-Rig by MJ Arsenal is a small concentrate rig with a magical side. The Fab Egg design divides the rig in the middle with holes to percolate each draw by forcing the vapor from the top to bottom for cool draws. The banger is pure quartz, pulling a wider range of flavor notes from your materials. The curved stem tilts the nail slightly toward you for easier draws. The hits are truly smooth and full-bodied for such a hand size glass pipe.
The Royale is one of the best concentrate rigs of its size. This little guy is seriously compact. You can pass it around or carry it in a protective bag without feeling like you're lugging something around. It's a worthy addition to your stash set if you ever find yourself needing a small concentrate rig.
Overall, this mini dab rig is reliable and easy-to-use. Its vapor production is pretty dense for a small concentrate rig.
What Do Dab Rigs Offer?
(The Higher Standards Heavy Duty Rig features an airtight seal for deep chugs.)
Dab rigs offer smooth, highly potent rips from concentrates. Designed specifically for wax and oils, these glass water pipes utilize water filtration to tame the powerful rips produced by dabbing.
Using a concentrate rig is fairly simple. The user heats the nail, an attachment that directly vaporizes concentrates, using a torch. A bit of concentrate is then dabbed onto the hot surface of the nail as the user inhales. The smoke is pulled through a water filtration system that transforms it into moisturized, purified vapor. The hits contain fewer particulates and drop to a cooler temperature, making them more comfortable to take in.
Because concentrate rigs require torching, they're not for everyone--especially those who don't like fire. The alternative is an enail, which is in some sense an electronic version of a dab rig. These devices feature temperature control and don't require a torch. They do, however, sometimes require plugin power sources. Dab rigs, on the other hand, are semi-portable, allowing you to dab without a plug-in.
What is a Concentrate Nail?
(A quartz banger nail, one of many concentrate nails available.)
Every concentrate rig features a nail upon which concentrates are heated. This part is essential to the dabbing experience. Nails can come in a variety of styles including:
Standard - One of the most budget-friendly concentrate nails. They feature a cupped plate onto which concentrates are dabbed. After the nail is heated and introduced to concentrates, the user places a dome over the nail to capture the vapor so it doesn't fade away before it's inhaled.
Angled - These concentrate nails feature a cup cut at an angle for easier dabbing.
Daisy - Featuring a bowl with slits cut into it, daisy nails allow you to rip without a dome. The slits promote ample airflow that pulls vapor directly into the air path rather than letting it dissipate.
Banger - With an elbow design that curves away from the concentrate rig, bangers provide easy access to the nail and ensure that heat from your torch doesn't damage your rig over time.
What are Concentrate Nails Made Of?
Nails can also come in a number of different materials. Each material offers a different way to enjoy concentrates, delivering different levels of flavor, potency, density, and more. The most common materials used to make concentrate nails are:
Glass - Many of the best concentrate rigs feature glass nails. This material is more fragile than others, making it prone to cracking and breakage. Still, glass does a fairly good job of extracting flavor and potency.
Quartz - This type of concentrate nail is far more durable than glass. It won't crack as easily, nor will it burn your wax if heated properly. Quartz pulls excellent flavor from waxes. It also ensures smoother hits. Some of the best dab rigs feature quartz nails.
Ceramic - Considered an alternative to quartz, ceramic concentrate nails do not react chemically to heat. This ensures that no unwanted flavors or aromas are rubbed off on your vapor. Ceramic also has high heat retention, so you can enjoy multiple dabs from one heated nail without reheating it each time. These dab nails are less durable than titanium or quartz but deliver intense flavor.
Titanium - The most durable and expensive concentrate nails are titanium. This material is less likely to develop stress cracks over time. The downside is that it will burn your wax if heated improperly. Titanium nails heat very fast so there won't be a long wait to dab.
What Makes the Best Dab Rigs Great?
The best concentrate rigs simply vaporize concentrates better than the rest. Period. You can boil this down to four factors:
Airpath - The airpath needs to be optimal for concentrates. That means the chamber, neck, and pathways should be tight. The more condensed the air path is, the lower the draw resistance, and the better your draws will taste and feel. In general, small concentrate rigs have the best air paths for concentrates. But there are exceptions to every rule. You want to make sure whatever rig you buy has drag-free airflow, no matter what size it is.
Glass - Remember you're going to be torching the nail at very high temperatures. You want a rig made of glass that's durable enough to handle that high heat. It will be able to retain the quality of your vapor without rubbing off any unwanted tastes or odors. And it won't crack or break over time. Borosilicate is the go-to glass for concentrate connoisseurs. It's medical-grade and highly thermal-resistant, meaning it won't change chemically when subjected to heat.
Nail - One of the most essential components is in the nail. The design of your nail will reflect in the flavor, strength, and smoothness of your vapor. This will usually come down to the materials used and the style of the nail, whether it be standard, classic, daisy, angled, or more.
Percolator - A significant aspect of using a concentrate rig is water filtration. This moisturizes and cools off vapor so it's easier to inhale. The percolator of a dab rig is largely responsible for how thoroughly your hits are moisture-conditioned. Percolators come in a variety of styles. In general, you want a percolator with small slits that produce finer bubbles. This will help smoke attach more thoroughly to moisture.
What Size Dab Rig Should I Get?
(Smaller concentrate rigs feature tighter airways that deliver powerful dab rips.)
When it comes to choosing the best concentrate rigs, size matters. Small dab rigs have tighter passages and chambers, forming a more direct, drag-free pathway for vapor to travel down. This straight blast to the lungs ensures that vapor has little time to dissipate. Instead, a dense, powerful rip is delivered.
A smaller chamber is also conducive to potent, flavor-rich draws. Vapor will attach to moisture for a smoother hit, but the flavor won't get diluted by too much water filtration.
In general, concentrate rigs range between 6" and 9" with chambers sized perfectly for concentrates. That said, larger dab rigs exist, sometimes featuring a purposefully compressed chamber to deliver better dabs despite their bigger sizes.
